Starving baby rescued after mom vanishes


AN eight-month-old boy has been reduced to skin and bones after his mother disappeared, leaving him starving alone for eight days at their home in rural Hainan Province.

His father Liang discovered the baby when he came home from work eight days after the mother's disappearance, today's China News Service reported.

The boy is recovering at Qiongshan People's Hospital. His doctor Lin Jian said the boy is seriously malnourished and dehydrated after his ordeal.

In southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a woman has disappeared leaving her newborn girl at the roadside, China News Service reported.

The girl, discovered yesterday hours after the birth by passengers beside a wall in Nanning, Guangxi's capital city, has been sent to a local hospital.
