Stepmom investigated in alleged repeated beatings of boy, 10, in Guangdong Province
POLICE in southern China’s Guangdong Province are investigating a stepmother accused of beating her 10-year-old stepson and leaving massive wounds, the Guangzhou Daily reported today.
The boy, identified as Bin bin, had bruises and burns over much of his body as his stepmother beat him with hangers and brooms two to three times a week, according to the report. The injuries are not life-threatening, and the wounds will recover with external medicine, said a doctor.
Bin bin’s teacher alerted police when learning the boy was frequently abused by his stepmother, who takes care of three children alone and is said to suffer from slight depression. The stepmother once beat Bin bin badly because he got soaked in the rain and denied dabbling in water, the report said.
Bin bin’s father, who worked out of town, returned home to deal with the family issue after the child abuse case was reported to police.
