Stolen bike returned to pleading Japanese cyclist
A Japanese who is cycling around the world recovered his stolen bike this morning and will continue his trip, thanks to the efforts of police in Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province.
His bike was returned by police two days after the Japanese cyclist named Keiichiro, pleaded the thief to return his bike which he treated like his "girlfriend" and he had travelled through a dozen countries on that bike.
His pleading drew a lot of attention on Weibo.com, the Chinese version of Twitter, and soon caught the eye of Wuhan police who immediately set out to find his stolen bicycle.
While many netizens cheered for Keiichiro's reunion with his "girlfriend," others said they frequently lost their bikes but the police never worked overnight to find them.
According to the local TV news, Keiichiro arrived in Wuhan on February 3 and found his bike missing last Thursday. Keiichiro said he parked the bike in a bike parking lot at the entrance of a pedestrian street.
"The bicycle is my dearest friend and even my girlfriend. I want to find it back," he told the local TV.
Wuhan police found the bike after a resident reported that he bought it in a second-hand market for 1,000 yuan. Keiichiro said it was his bike.
