Student brings HK total to 7
HONG Kong yesterday confirmed another case of swine flu, bringing to seven the number of people infected by the disease in the city.
The patient is a 21-year-old Hong Kong student who had been studying in the United States.
She arrived in Hong Kong at around 10pm on Friday via flight KE607 from Seoul, said Thomas Tsang, controller of the Center for Health Protection of Hong Kong.
She did not have a fever when she arrived at Hong Kong airport, and went home to Wong Tai Sin that night. She developed a fever on Saturday. She was confirmed to have the virus yesterday morning and sent to Princess Margaret Hospital. She is in a stable condition.
Her family members had tested negative while a traveling companion is in the United Christian Hospital for further tests. She sat in seat 44F and passengers who sat in the nearest seven rows are being traced.
Regarding the fifth and sixth confirmed cases on Saturday, Tsang said 70 percent of their close contacts had been traced.
In the 24 hours to 11am yesterday, 41 people in Hong Kong were required to undergo tests. Five tested negative, one was positive, while results on the others are pending.
