Student gives teacher drugs
A COLLEGE freshman in southwest China's Sichuan Province will stand trial next month for allegedly giving drugs to his teacher to thank him for helping him pass an entrance exam.
The student named Chen Shuang is now on bail and is writing letters requesting leniency to the prosecutor in Chengdu City, the capital of Sichuan, after he was detained in June, reported today's Chengdu Evening News.
Chen and his teacher Li Hua were caught taking methamphetamine, or "ice", valued at 200 yuan (US$ 30), in a hotel room during a surprise crackdown by local police.
Chen said he treated Li to dinner to express his gratitude after the national college entrance exam ended on June 8. When they finished the meal, Chen invited Li to take the drugs.
