Student jumps to death ahead of entrance exam
A student who allegedly was barred from entering the room for the National College Entrance Exam in central Hunan Province jumping to his death on Tuesday but local authorities denied that he jumped because he was late for the exam, Beijing News reported today.
Lu Ping jumped from the sixth floor of his school dormitory building in Longhui County, Shaoyang City on Tuesday morning. Witnesses said his teachers tried to save him but failed.
Rumors on the Internet said Lu was refused entry to the exam room because he was 15 minutes late. But Shaoyang City government said yesterday that local police received the suicide report at 8:57am, before the exam started at 9am.
Lu's classmates recalled that Lu had asked for a month-long leave due to his mental problem, but this has not been confirmed by the local authorities. Police investigation is still continuing.
