Student killed girlfriend as he couldn’t afford abortion

A SCHOOL student has been detained in southwest China’s Sichuan Province for allegedly killing his girlfriend because he could not afford to pay for her to have an abortion.
The student, whose name was not revealed, is a senior high school student from Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, the West China Metropolis Daily reported today.
Citing the Public Security Bureau in Xichang City, the report said that he was in a relationship with an 18-year-old fellow student at his school.
She became pregnant and asked him to pay for an abortion, the report said.
However, he could not afford to pay for the procedure and was scared to tell his parents.
It is alleged that he met his girlfriend to talk about the issue on January 16 and killed her by hitting her repeatedly on the head with a stick.
He then took her money, dragged her body under a bridge and fled the scene, it is claimed.
