Sudan rescue effort
A Chinese team is in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum to help rescue Chinese workers held hostage after an attack in South Kordofan.
Qiu Xuejun, head of the six-member team, said they are there to assist the Chinese embassy in the rescue operation as well as hold consultations with Sudanese authorities.
He said the Chinese government is greatly concerned for the 29 workers' safety.
Members of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North attacked the workers' camp on Saturday. A spokesman for the group said: "The Chinese workers have been transported to a safe area and they are in good health."
