Suicide woman saved by man waiting below
A 65-year-old man saved a young woman by catching her with his bare hands when she jumped from the third floor in suicide yesterday in Jiangsu Province.
Medical examination showed no serious injuries on the young woman and her savior, Miao Xiaofu, in Liyang City, Yangtze Evening Post reported.
The young woman, surnamed Zhang, lives with her husband and daughter. A bitter quarrel with her husband led Zhang to the jump from their window.
Miao saw Zhang hanging out of the window after he heard the noise and rushed to the scene. There were already some people gathering downstairs and looking at her.
Her husband was trying to pull her back into the room while Miao waited below with stretched arms.
"I have no choice," said Miao, "I just wanted to catch her or give her a cushion when she fell. I thought that might help."
"If she dropped directly to the ground from that height, she could be paralyzed or have died," the man said.
Miao rushed there in time and succeeded to catch her legs. Zhang's head scratched on the wall, leaving an inch-long wound, the only injury she had.
