Supor rice cookers poor in electric efficiency

SUPOR, a cookware company whose products were found to contain harmful heavy metal earlier, is reported to have product quality problems again.

The Shaanxi Province Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision said yesterday three types of Supor's electric rice cookers are poor in heat efficiency and are not energy-saving.

These types of rice cookers are not available in Shanghai's market.

Last October, most of the company's cookware priced under 200 yuan (US$31.7) was found to contain excessive amount of manganese in a quality check by a market watchdog in northeast China.

The use of manganese can lower production cost but increase the risk as the cookware is prone to rust and contaminate food.

Supor was founded in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province in 1994.
