Survey: most TV shows unfit for kids
MORE than 70 percent of people polled consider most entertainment programs on Chinese TV are not suitable for childern.
Accordingly, half of the respondents believe the programs have negative influence on young people, according to a recent survey.
The survey, carried out by Beijing-based China Youth Daily with Sina.com, said most of the 2,191 respondents consider the contents on TV and Internet did little to help childeren form correct values and personality.
Many perceive a risk that their children would be affected by sexual images and vulgar language in the TV programs. Others are concerned about the obvious worship of money in many programs, China Youth Daily reported today.
But half of those questioned, nearly 70 percent of them being parents, said they still tried to keep a balance between content control and freedom of children to choose their programs.
