Survey: tourists are more concerned about safety
AN online survey conducted by a Chinese leading online travel service platform showed that the security situation of destinations will be a major concern for tourists next year.
About 56 percent of the thousands of people surveyed by Ctrip.com in 2010 said they would check if the foreign destination is safe enough before going, after seeing several tourist tragedies in the year.
Ctrip.com officials said this was the first time that tourists were paying attention to their safety of travel.
"The bloodshed in a hijacked bus in Manila, the Philippines came as the biggest shock. I was also scared by other natural disasters around the world," said a tourist named Lin Lingzi. "I realized that safety should be given top consideration when I choose a destination."
As for travel budget, the survey found that 50 percent of the respondents said that soaring housing prices will limit their budget for travel.
