Suspect arrested for restaurant blasts in NE China

POLICE arrested a suspect who caused explosions at a fast food restaurant in northern China’s Heilongjiang Province yesterday morning, as CCTV news reported. A police officer suffered 70 percent burns and two colleagues were slightly injured.

The 34-year-old suspect surnamed Zhu made explosive devices by himself with black powder of firecrackers in an attempt to blackmail the restaurant, according to an initial investigation.

The explosions occurred around 9:30am at a Dicos restaurant in Anda City. The first bomb was on the second floor of the hamburger and fried chicken restaurant and the second on the first floor, a witness told CCTV.
