Suspect caught after family of 5 slain

POLICE have caught a man who allegedly killed a family of five, including an 8-year-old girl, in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region last Saturday.

Police didn't specify where Li Huanwen, 42, was caught, but said the Shandong Province man had been wanted since 2006 for more than 40 robberies totaling over 1 million yuan (US$146,503), www.nmgnews.com.cn reported.

Customers found the murdered family at their workshop making furniture materials in Bayannur City's eastern Linhe District, according to earlier Xinhua reports. The victims were Zhang Jianrui, 48, his wife, their two sons aged 24 and 21, and 8-year-old daughter. The family also came from Shandong.

Linhe public security bureau issued a warrant for Li's arrest, promising a 50,000-yuan reward to those who provided "helpful clues."

Li's mother and Zhang's mother were sisters, according to neighbors.

Their factory was profitable as Li was in charge of sales and the couple operated production.
