Suspect in central China killing spree in custody

A man suspected of killing four people in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province, on Saturday morning is now in police custody.

The 46-year-old man, surnamed Li, is suspected of killing the victims after a dispute with the family, said police after a preliminary investigation. Li was injured and detained at the scene.

The four victims were a woman surnamed Zhou, her husband, and two children. They were stabbed to death between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the Yunding Cuifeng residential community on the west side of the city. The killer set fire to the apartment, which was soon put out.

A resident of the community who declined to be named told Xinhua that the two children were both boys. One of them was a second-grader, while the other was a pre-schooler.

Further investigation is under way.
