TV reporter working on swill oil stories stabbed to death
A 30-year-old TV reporter in Luoyang City, Henan Province was stabbed to death near the TV station where he worked last night, Zhengzhou Evening Post reported.
Luoyang police said the victim named Li Xiang, was a reporter at Luoyang TV Station, had parked his car at the TV station and walked home alone. When he passed the residence where TV staff lives behind the station, he was attacked.
An insider told the newspaper that the security guard of the residence heard someone yelling "Robber here!" at around the time when Li was killed. But when he reached the scene, Li was already lying on the ground with his laptop missing.
A friend of Li told the newspaper that Li was planning to get married next month. He published his last microblog post on the night of September 15, talking about illegal swill oil manufacturing.
Luoyang police said Li was stabbed over ten times, and the case was initially believed to be murder and robbery. However, since Li was working on the swill oil issues before his death, local police did not rule out other motives.
The case was still under investigation, local police said.
