Tainted candies
POLICE in south China’s Guangdong Province have confiscated 12.05 tons of melamine-tainted yogurt candies and 13.5 tons of half-finished products from Boda, a Chaozhou City-based food plant.
A police spokesman said the plant owner, surnamed Yang, was being held for producing and selling unsafe food, China News Service reported yesterday.
As the case was a complex one that involved other parts of the country, authorities had mobilized in 12 provinces to track down other people involved in its production.
