Taiwan patient recovers
THE first Taiwan person to be infected with the H7N9 virus left hospital yesterday after 35 days of treatment.
The 53-year-old man, who had briefly stayed in east China's city of Suzhou, showed bird flu symptoms three days after returning to Taiwan via Shanghai on April 9.
His health has improved significantly and the virus has not been detected in his respiratory tracts, a Taiwan University Hospital spokesman said.
The Chinese mainland confirmed its first human infections in late March in an outbreak that has killed 36 people.
