Taiwan reports first human H7N9 case
THE H7N9 bird flu virus has been detected in a 53-year-old man in Taiwan, the island's first case, Taiwan's disease control authority confirmed today.
According to Taiwan's TVBS news, the man works in Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province. He came back to Taiwan yesterday and was found with symptoms of fever, cough and running nose when arriving at Taoyuan Airport in Taipei, the island's disease control authority said.
He was immediately sent to a designated hospital for check and later was confirmed to be infected by H7N9 virus, the authority reported.
It's the first case in Taiwan and the patient is receiving treatment at the designated hospital, according to TVBS news.
