Taiwanese actor dumped for pro-independence stance

ACTRESS-TURNED-DIRECTOR Zhao Wei dumped her leading star Leon Dai from her second directorial venture, No Other Love, for his alleged pro-Taiwan-independence stance.

There have been online protests since early April when Zhao released the star cast for the film. She took a lot of flak for signing Dai for the film.

Initially, she ignored the protests but anger boiled over with netizens even calling for a boycott of the film. Zhao was forced to dump Dai and said all the scenes that were shot with Dai will be reshot with as yet unnamed actor.
