Teacher, 62, detained in rape of 7 young girls at school

A 62-year-old teacher was detained on suspicion of raping seven underage girls in southeast China’s Jiangxi province, Beijing News reported today.
Six of the girls, aged from 8 to 9, were diagnosed with venereal diseases and are hospitalized.
From September to May, police said, Tao Biaogong told girls that he would correct their homework but sexually assaulted them in the back rows of the classroom and in his office.
On July 4, the parents of one of the girls found their child injured as they helped her to take a shower. The girl was found to have a venereal disease, and her parents reported the case to local police. Several other girls said they had also been raped.
The victims are all being taken care of by relatives while their parents are working in other cities.
Tao was removed from his post and detained by police. Three other school officials were also dismissed. A further police investigation is under way.
