Teacher accused of molesting girls
A TEACHER with a Henan Province rural school has been accused of molesting girls while supposedly carrying out checks for hand, foot and mouth disease.
The teacher, surnamed Hu in his 30s, has been suspended from work after the school received complaints from parents, today's Dahe Daily reported.
But neither parents nor the local education authority have reported the incidents to police.
The principal surnamed Zhang of the primary school in Kaifeng City's Qixian County confirmed to the Zhengzhou-based newspaper that he had received complaints from the parents of three pupils early this month. He checked it with the teacher who denied the allegations.
The county's education authority investigated and asked for Hu to be suspended.
"We have checked the complaints with more than 10 pupils and the information they provided is the same as the parents," said Lu Shenkai, an education official involved in the investigation.
He said the authority cannot introduce any criminal legal action. All the authority can do is to expel him from work.
The Qixian education bureau office manager Li Lu echoed Lu's words.
He urged the victims to seek police help.
Parents were sometimes unwilling to report these incidents to police in case it would tarnish their children's reputations, he explained.
