Teacher allegedly molests third-graders

A 60-year-old teacher in a primary school in central China's Henan Province was accused of molesting more than 10 third-grade girls, who were found to have injuries to their vaginas.
Xing Guofu, a teacher in Yaoji Village in the city of Xinyang, started to molest girls last September and got them to keep quiet by threatening them with physical punishment, victims said.
His actions came to light on April 9, when a mother surnamed Xu found injuries to her daughter while giving her a bath. The girl, 8, told her mother that Xing "always fondled her bottom in class," the Henan Business Daily reported yesterday.
"Hearing my daughter's words, I was so angry and fainted," Xu said.
The next day, Xu's husband talked to other parents and learned that other girls were also molested. The outraged parents took their daughters to a hospital, where tests showed they suffered torn or red and swollen vaginas, the report said.
Police said Xing has been detained. But parents were not convinced because they never saw documents concerning his custody. Some said Xing's son was a local police chief, and they suspected he may be covering for his father.
"Xing's son apologized to us and hoped us to solve it privately and didn't bring the old man to the court, but we rejected," one of the parents told the newspaper.
