Teacher donates some of lottery win
A TEACHER in central Henan Province has become Chinese mainland's most generous lottery winner by donating 10.5 million yuan (US$ 1.57 million) to charity after he claimed the mainland's third biggest-ever jackpot of 258 million yuan.
The man surnamed He, a native of Zhumadian County, wore a pair of sunglasses and kept cool when picking up the prize at the provincial welfare lottery centre on Monday, said the centre staff.
He made the donation to the Henan Charity Federation immediately after finishing verification of his tickets for "Double Color Ball", issued by the China Welfare Lottery, which cost him a total of 100 yuan, reported today?s Wuhan Evening News.
The donation amount set a new record created by Chinese mainland lottery winners, after a Shanghai winner pocketing 259 million yuan gave away 10.32 million yuan to philanthropy while a Henan winner donated 10 million yuan out of his 359 million yuan windfall.
