Teacher fired after slapping boy's face

A KINDERGARTEN teacher has been fired after a mother complained her three-year-old son was slapped because he cried after a nap in east China's Zhejiang Province.

Peng, who was sacked, said another teacher surnamed Xiong had sealed the boy's mouth with tape to conceal the slap mark. The second teacher is under police investigation, today's Oriental Morning Post reported.

The boy has now quit the kindergarten in Lucheng District, Wenzhou City, which charged 3,700 yuan (US$542) a semester, the mother surnamed Chen told the newspaper.

Her son had often complained that the teachers beat him, Chen said. But she dismissed the complaints, blaming them on problems settling in to the new kindergarten.

But last Friday her son came home with a swollen face, saying his teacher had hit him.
