Teacher fired for ordering boys to slap faces

A young teacher in Guangzhou City of southern Guangdong Province has been fired for forcing two schoolboys to slap each other's face as punishment for being late for the school bus.
A video footage showing the two fifth-graders reluctantly slapping each other's face for about three minutes was posted online. The math teacher was also seen slapping a boy's face.
Xinhui School in the city's Liwan District was established for children of migrant workers. The school principal, surnamed Sun, said they had dismissed the teacher who was hired only in September, a local newspaper reported today.
The 21-year-old teacher was a native of Jiangxi Province and graduated from a junior college this summer. Sun said he was a man of few words but he was good at math teaching.
Many other students told the newspaper that physical punishment was quite common in their school and some of them had been beaten with sticks. But Sun denied these allegations.
