Teacher fired for wounding boy's nose
A kindergarten teacher in Tianjin, north China accidentally cut the nose of a 3-year-old boy with a pair of scissors last week, causing him to have five stitches. The minor incident caught media attention because people are increasingly sensitive to preschool scandals these days.
The teacher surnamed Geng said it was an accident as she just wanted to remove a loose thread from the boy's quilt. Despite her explanation, she was fired by the kindergarten, the Chine Youth Daily reported.
The Chenggong Kindergarten in the city's Nanqu District covered hospital bills for the boy's treatment, but it turned down the parents' demand for 50,000 yuan (US$8,000) in compensation, saying it was too much.
