Teacher sentenced to death for rape
A PRIMARY school teacher was sentenced to death on Sunday for raping 21 female students over three years in central China's Hubei Province.
All the victims were less than 14 years old, Changjiang Business News reported.
The Xiangfan Intermediate People's Court found the teacher, who was identified as Li, had sexually assaulted the victims on 32 occasions starting in 2004.
Li, 50, often ordered two female students to sleep with him in his school dormitory. He paid them five yuan (73 US cents) each afterwards.
In October 2004, Li ordered two 12-year-old students to meet him in his dorm, where he proceeded to rape them.
He then frequently made up excuses to get girls to his dorm and sexually abuse them.
Li was at large until May 2007 due to a lack of evidence and fear among victims to file charges, the report said.
Parents of a victim called police in April 2007 and said Li had raped their daughter.
