Teacher to be fired for pulling girl by ear, causing 4cm laceration
A KINDERGARTEN teacher will be fired after causing a 4-centimeter laceration on the back of a 6-year-old girl’s left ear after pulling her out of a classroom by the ear on Friday for not behaving, according to school officials in Chang’an Town of Donguan, southern China’s Guangdong Province.
The teacher, surnamed Wang, claimed the girl didn’t behave herself since she was playing games and chatting with classmates in class. Authorities said they have decided to dismiss Wang.
The girl was sent to the clinic for treatment after the teacher found her ear was bleeding. The girl was warned by the teacher not to tell her parents.
The girl’s mother reported the injury to police and asked the kindergarten to pay 20,000 yuan (US$3,180) in compensation. Both sides reached an agreement on Tuesday as the town’s police and educational authorities oversaw the negotiations, the details of which haven’t been disclosed. Police are continuing to investigate the case.
