Teen jumps to his death over gaokao score

AN 18-year-old man jumped to his death yesterday because of his score on the national college entrance examination, anhuinews.com reported.
The man, surnamed Wang, who graduated from an elite school in Hefei, capital city of Anhui Province, jumped from his home on the 27th floor of an apartment building around 2pm yesterday. He had learned his exam score only hours before, the website said.
The report did not say what Wang’s score was on the test, which is also known as the gaokao.
He died before an ambulance arrived. Wang’s father and grandfather were at home at the time and his father failed to persuade him not to jump, the report cited police as saying.
Police are still investigating the case, according to the report.
