Teenage pair kill 4 people following row over money
POLICE in central China have caught two Internet-addicted teenage boys after they allegedly stabbed and burned one boy's grandfather for money and killed a six-year-old boy and his foster parents.
Police in Xinhua County in Hu-nan Province were told a 14-year-old suspect, identified as Xiao Lin, asked his 78-year-old grandfather for 60 yuan (US$9.05) to play with his classmate, identified as A Tao, at 2pm last Saturday.
However, the grandpa refused and began castigating them for spending too much time at a cybercafe. The two boys tied the man to a chair and ordered him to reveal where he kept his money. As he refused to say anything, Xiao Lin allegedly stabbed him several times in neck.
They then are said to have pulled him to a bed and set fire to it, Sanxiang Metropolis Daily said yesterday.
They didn't realize their rampage was witnessed by a six-year-old boy, identified as Yang Yang, until they suddenly heard "You killed grandpa!" from the boy standing outside their house. Xiao Lin allegedly lured Yang Yang into the home and stabbed him to death. The little boy just happened to see the tragedy when he was loitering around. His home was about 200 meters away.
The two became frightened when Yang Yang's foster father shouted his name while searching for his son. At 3pm, they allegedly lured the father, 78-year-old Chen Heqiu, to up a hill where they hacked him to death.
The pair of youths then went to Chen's home, where his disabled wife was lying in bed. They allegedly killed her and robbed her home before running away.
Police caught the two at an Internet cafe on January 5. Xiao Lin's uncle said Xiao Lin has long been secretly selling anything from rice to furniture from his home for money so that he could play on computers.
