Teenager found safe
There was good news for the relatives of a teenager believed to have been buried in the landslide in Shenzhen, South China’s Guangdong Province, when he turned up safe and sound on Friday, local media reported yesterday.
The 17-year-old, surnamed Chen, had been playing video games at an Internet cafe at the site of the landslide, but left shortly before it struck, the Shenzhen Evening News reported.
Seeing the building demolished and buried, Chen’s family feared the worst. However, the boy had in fact being playing games at another location for several days, seemingly unaware of the distress he had caused.
Chen is only the second person to be “saved” from the landslide, after 19-year-old Tian Zeming was pulled from the debris last Wednesday after spending 72 hours underground.
