Teenager held after stabbing spree

POLICE in south China have detained a teenager after a woman was stabbed to death and 11 people injured.

Zhi Zemin, 19, is said to have stabbed people in the street in a village in Guangdong Province at 12:20am on Wednesday, yesterday's Guangzhou Daily reported.

A 45-year-old woman died in hospital and other 11 people suffered minor injures.

Meanwhile, a man jumped to his death after allegedly killing four members of a family, including two children, in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region yesterday.

Lu Shuangfeng came home from work to find his 74-year-old parents, 13-year-old son and 11-year-old nephew hacked to death. The suspect had stabbed himself and jumped from the roof.

There has been a spate of knife attacks since March.

In May, a man in southern China attacked six women with a cleaver before jumping to his death.

Three men were sentenced to death for separate school stabbing cases that left at least 16 dead and 49 injured.
