'The Fate of the Furious' continues to lead Chinese box office
UNIVERSAL'S "The Fate of the Furious" unsurprisingly held the top spot for a second week in the Chinese film market, earning 833 million yuan (US$121 million) in the week ending April 23.
The eighth installment in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise has grossed a total of 2.4 billion yuan since its release on April 14.
Hollywood 3D animation "Smurfs: The Lost Village" landed in second place for the week, taking in 78 million yuan.
Domestic romance film "Mr.Pride vs Miss Prejudice" took third place, raking in 68 million yuan.
The extended edition of "A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella," a classic Hong Kong movie first released in 1995, came in fourth, generating 56 million yuan.
Rounding out the top five was domestic action movie "The Blood Hound", which grossed 13 million yuan.
