The never ever ending song
MORE than 1,200 residents in northeastern China have set a new world karaoke record by singing continuously for 456 hours, two minutes and five seconds.
Students, soldiers, and businessmen from Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, sang more than 6,200 songs from February 20 until yesterday morning, Xinhua News Agency reported today.
Participants took turns and each sang for three minutes or less. Singes had to start within 30 seconds of the previous participant finishing.
One businessman sang every day completing a total of more than 180 songs. He said seeing the event succeed had given him confidence to help overcome the difficulties of the global financial crisis.
It beat the old Guinness World Record, set by Finns in July, by nearly 10 hours.
Local residents can enjoy for another five days of free karaoke at the record-making venue.
