Thief's wedding night confession
A man surrendered himself to police on his wedding night after his conscience got the better of him and he admitted to his uncle he had stolen some money two years before.
The man, surnamed Qiu, was a farmer in his hometown and had brought 10,000 yuan with him when he left his hometown for Beijing but had eventually spent all his money. He couldn't get a job because his landlord was holding his ID for unpaid rent.
Beijing prosecutors say Qiu followed a woman, surnamed Yao, and grabbed her bag. He used the money he found in the bag to pay his rent and then returned to his hometown.
Two years later, Qiu went back to Beijing with his uncle and gave himself up to police.
He is being prosecuted for robbery.
