Thousands battle big forest fire in Hebei

A forest fire broke out in north China's Hebei Province yesterday noon and has spread over 133 hectares of woodlands, Xinhua reported today.
The fire occurred near the border between Funing County and Qinglong County in the jurisdiction of Qinhuangdao City. Fanned by strong winds, the fire spread fast, forcing families in nearby villages to flee.
By 5am this morning, more than 7,550 firefighters, policemen, soldiers and local people had joined in the battle to put out the blaze. Three helicopters had also been dispatched to the site to assist firefighting.
