Thousands breaking the rules
CHINA’S environmental authority found 2,808 companies in violation of standards during its first round of air pollution inspections.
Teams in 28 cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and nearby areas found 2,808 of 4,077 companies breaking the rules.
Inspectors also found some enterprises which had been closed illegally resumed production and some reported fake data. Some also tried to impede inspection teams.
A second round of inspections, of 25 this year, is underway.
