Thousands in search for missing kids
MORE than 4,000 people are searching for three children who went missing from their home in east China’s Zhejiang Province earlier this week.
Provincial news portal www.zjol.com.cn said 8-year-old Chen Minjie and her neighbors, 12-year-old Chen Xinyi and her brother Chen Hanlin, 7, left home in Pujiang County’s Jianguang Village between 10:30am and 11am on Tuesday.
They were last seen on a monitoring video at 5:54pm that day on a bridge at the entrance to the village, it said.
Relatives, volunteers, police and firefighters have been mobilized to search an area of around 30 square kilometers.
On Wednesday, police helicopters flew over hills in the area, dropping bags containing lighters, food and water. “If the missing children obtained our bag, they might make a fire by using the lighter, which could help our rescue operation,” an official said.
Yesterday, divers searched a local reservoir but no trace of the children was found, according to a report on China Central Television.
