Tibet legislator sacked for graft

A FORMER senior legislator in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has been expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office following a graft probe.

According to a statement issued yesterday by the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, Le Dake — a former deputy head of the Standing Committee of the regional People's Congress — was found to have accepted bribes and taken advantage of his post to seek benefits for others.

The statement said that Le violated the Party's code of conduct, interfered with the investigation, and traded power and money for sex.

The Supreme People’s Procuratorate said yesterday that it has launched a probe into Le, and that he has been placed under coercive measures, which might include summons by force, residential surveillance, detention or arrest.

Meanwhile, a former vice governor in northeast China’s Jilin Province has been expelled from the Party and sacked following an internal investigation.

According to a statement issued by the CCDI, Gu Chunli was found to have accepted bribes and taken advantage of his post to seek benefits for others.

The investigation found he misused public funds and state-owned vehicles, and gave favorable treatment to businesses in his wife’s name.

He also violated the Party’s code of conduct, interfered with the investigation and frequented private clubs, the statement said.

The SPP said it has launched a criminal investigation, and that Gu has been placed under coercive measures.
