Tigers kill zookeeper
Five tigers mauled a zookeeper to death after he went beyond the security barriers at a wildlife park in Shenzhen City, southern Guangdong Province.
The 54-year-old zookeeper Sheng Jinhua, a native of east Zhejiang Province, was cleaning up weeds on a bridge over an enclosure holding nine big cats at 2:45pm yesterday.
Sheng climbed onto the 1.8-meter glass barrier surrounding the bridge and then fell into the enclosure and was mauled to death, said the park's spokesman Zheng Chaolun today.
The reason why Sheng went beyond the barrier remained unknown, reported today's Guangzhou Daily.
The tigers were chased away by other zookeepers with fire crackers.
