Till death to us part - not any longer
HIGH-RANKING officials in Guangzhou can stay with their spouses forever - even in the afterlife.
The ashes of officials and their spouses can now be buried together either in the Yinghe Revolutionary Cemetery or other cemeteries, according to a new regulation from the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau in Guangdong Province, the China News Service reported yesterday.
Previously the Yinghe cemetery only housed the ashes of martyrs, officials and soldiers.
Now the offspring of officials, martyrs and soldiers can be interned there, too. But the cemetery, with about 5,000 sites available, is expected to be full in three years.
