Tip-off leads to escapee arrest

A PRISONER on the run in Shaanxi Province was arrested by police yesterday after a tip-off, Xinhua news agency reported.
Zhang Guoxian, 38, was arrested at 10:56am yesterday in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province. He was one of two prisoners who escaped from a prison in Hanzhong City on March 1.
The other prisoner, Li Baohua, 37, was arrested at a shopping mall in Weinan City in the northwestern province on March 4.
Li and Zhang sawed through a metal covering over a sewage pipe to break out from the prison.
Hanzhong Police had issued a wanted circular and offered reward of 100,000 yuan (US$14,620) for information leading to their arrests.
Li was sent to prison for drug trafficking on September 5, 2007 and Zhang was imprisoned for robbery on March 9 of the same year. Both are natives of Henan Province in central China.
