TIPS about Internet and mobile WAP sites containing X-rated content have surged since authorities announced last Friday they'd give each qualified informer rewards of up to 10,000 yuan (US$1,465).
The China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center received more than 13,000 online tips and more than 500 phone calls by 5pm on Saturday, 10 times the usual number. The center, together with ministries and the National Office against Pornographic and Illegal Publication, issued a circular on Friday encouraging the public to report sites that contain obscene information.
