Tobacco company probed over car purchases
THE state-owned Zhoukou Tobacco Co in Zhoukou City, Henan Province, is being investigated after it violated rules set by the parent company in purchasing cars.
The Zhoukou Co paid each of the eight Volkswagen Passat nearly 200,000 yuan (US$32,540), higher than the 180,000 yuan price limit the provincial tobacco group set. The 17 Roewe cars it bought are all with 2.0-liter engines but the group's limit for engine size is 1.8-liter, news portal Dahe.cn reported. The Zhoukou Co had asked the sellers to issue two receipts for each car to cover up the violations, it said.
