Tongrentang apologizes for ripping off foreigners
CHINA'S largest producer of traditional Chinese medicine has apologized to the public after media reports that one of its shops sold overpriced and unneeded medicine to foreign tourists.
Tongrentang Co admitted in a statement that it had management problems and vowed to examine all its outlets to prevent malpractices like that in one store in Beijing's Changping District, which misled foreign tourists to buy medicine at high prices, Xinhua reported today.
But the company insisted the medicine was sold by Beijing Hanci Chinese Medicine Clinic, which rented part of the store, not by Tongrentang staff.
