Top Shandong official under cloud
THE Secretary-General of Shandong Province has been disciplined but the cause remains unidentified, according to Dazhong Daily based in the provincial capital Jinan.
Zhang Wanqing has been put under "double designation" status - a special investigative procedure under which a Party official needs to explain claims of disciplinary violations or wrongdoings at a designated time and place - since last month.
The people's congress of Shandong is reviewing a request by the provincial government to sack Zhang.
Zhang, 56, was appointed Shandong's secretary-general in February 2008, and served as head of Shandong's Gold Administration and top executive of the Shanghai-listed Shandong Gold Mining Co.
