Train driver falls onto tracks in accident
A subway train driver was seriously injured when the door of his cabin suddenly close before he could get back in and he fell off the platform onto the tracks, suffering a concussion.
The accident occurred at a Metro Line 2 station in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province around 8am on April 30, local media said.
Qiu Yuwen, the 23-year-old driver, got off the train to check why the train doors refused to close. Just then all the doors suddenly closed and the train began to move.
In panic, Qiu tried to get on the train but failed and lost his balance. He fell on the tracks, his head hitting the hard surface. Nanjing Metro operator said the company will try its best to save the life of this young driver.
Some netizens said Qiu is being treated in the intensive care unit of Southeast University Zhongda Hospital and he is still in critical condition.
