Trapped workers alive

TWELVE workers trapped under a collapsed tunnel in northeast China’s Jilin Province for two days are all alive and in good condition, local authorities said yesterday. A high-speed rail tunnel under construction in Hunchun City collapsed at about 2am on Wednesday when 12 workers were pouring concrete to reinforce it. Rescuers got in touch with and delivered food to the trapped workers at 1:55pm yesterday through a passage they bore into the collapsed tunnel.
