Travel companies suspend tourist packages
MOST Chinese travel agencies have suspended travel to the Philippines.
Companies including Ctrip.com, China's largest online travel service company, and Beijing Caissa International Travel Service Co Ltd, have halted tours to the Philippines and promised refunds for tourists who had booked trips.
Tours from Shanghai were suspended yesterday and travel companies said they won't be accepting bookings until the situation between the two countries changes.
The Shanghai International Travel Co Ltd said that more than 200 tourists had signed up for Philippine packages. "We are now trying to persuade tourists to postpone their departure time," said General Manager Zhao Dexiang.
All travel groups from the city now in the Philippines have been contacted and there have been no problems so far.
